Postcrossing é um projeto
baseado na Internet que
consiste na troca de postais
entre membros registados, de certo modo semelhante ao Bookcrossing. No
entanto, enquanto este último implica deixar livros em locais devidamente
divulgados para que outros os recolham e leiam, o Postcrossing
consiste na troca aleatória de postais. Os participantes que enviam um postal
irão também receber pelo menos um de um outro utilizador de qualquer país do
mundo.
O Projecto
Criado em Julho de 2005 por Paulo
Magalhães, um jovem estudante português, este projeto tem sofrido pequenas
alterações com vista ao seu aperfeiçoamento e, a par disso, tem já sido
assunto de diversos artigos na imprensa
ao redor do mundo.
O objetivo deste projecto é permitir a
qualquer pessoa receber postais de todo o mundo, quase que gratuitamente,
fazendo parte do postcrossing. A regra base é a seguinte: se enviar um
postal, irá receber um de volta, de um outro postcrosser em algum lugar do
mundo.
A razão fundamental que motiva a troca de
postais é porque existem muitas pessoas que gostam de receber correspondência
física, e não apenas virtual. Além disso, o fator surpresa de receber postais
de diferentes lugares do mundo (muitos dos quais provavelmente nunca se ouviu
sequer falar) pode transformar uma simples caixa de correio numa pequena
caixa de surpresas.
Como funciona?
O primeiro passo
é pedir uma morada (endereço) de outro utilizador para onde se deverá enviar
um postal. Tal endereço é escolhido aleatoriamente. A pessoa registada irá
receber a morada por email, em conjunto com um ID (ex: PT-567) que identifica
univocamente esse postal no sistema.
Depois, deverá
enviar o postal sem esquecer de escrever o ID que lhe foi dado no postal.
Quando o postal chegar ao seu destinatário, a pessoa deve registrá-lo no
sistema. Assim que o postal enviado chegar ao destinatário e for registado no
sistema, a morada da pessoa que o enviou será a próxima a ser seleccionada
quando outro usuário pedir um endereço. Dessa maneira, os participantes criam
um efeito cascata, ficando na fila de endereços cada vez que enviarem um
postal e ele for registrado.
Pode-se ter até 5 postais viajando
simultaneamente, e cada vez que um postal que foi enviado for registado,
pode-se pedir outra morada.

205.136 em curso, 33.481.419.155 Km viajados o que faz 835.468 voltas ao
redor do mundo.

Em setembro de 2011 haviam 249.688 membros em 198 países, 8.367.802 postais
recebidos, 260.212 em curso, 45.444.989.023 Km viajados o que faz 59.111
viagens de ida e volta a Lua.
O Fórum
O site dispõe de um fórum oficial onde os
usuários podem trocar informações e (mais) postais, sanar dúvidas, fazer
amizade, propor trocas diversas. Há também uma secção off topic para discutir
assuntos não inerentes ao projeto.
O propósito do fórum é dar suporte e discutir a
ideia do postcrossing.

Postcrossing is a project based

The Project
Created in July 2005 by Paul Magalhães a young student Portuguese, this project has suffered small changes in order to improving and, in addition, has already been the subject of several articles in the press around the world. The objective of this project is to enable any person to receive postcards from around the world, almost free, being part of Postcrossing. The basic rule is: if you send a postcard, you will receive one back, from another postcrosser somewhere in the world.
The fundamental reason that motivates the exchange of
postcards is because there are many people who like to receive physical mail, not just virtual. Moreover, the surprise factor of receiving
postcards from all over the world (many of whom probably never even heard speak)
can transform a mere letter box in a little
box of surprises.
How it works?
The first step is to request an address (address) of another user which you have to send a postcard. This address is chosen randomly. The registered person will receive the e-mail address, along with an ID (eg, EN-567) that uniquely identifies the postal on the system. Then send the postcard should not forget to write the ID that was given on the postcard. When the postcard reach its destination, the person must register it in the system. Once the postcard sent to the recipient and is registered in the system, the address of the person who sent it will be the next to be selected when another user request an address. Thus, participants create a ripple effect, standing in line address each time you send a postcard and it is logged.
You can have up to 5 postcards simultaneously traveling, and every time a postcard
